🐂 Takeaways from the Bulls season opener

Noh

The most glaring thing is how often he is scoring off cuts this year. Synergy had 22 percent of his possessions coming off cuts in this game as compared to around 7 percent last season. He has gotten MUCH better at timing those plays out, and he’s pretty devastating when changing directions on a dime.

The NBA is back! And Buzelis seems to be catching up to the NBA game this year. I wasn’t able to watch it, but even from Noh’s clip you can see how active he is on both sides of the ball.

💼 Personal Business

Are.na

My motivation throughout the ups and downs was not that Are.na would one day make me rich, it was that we had to keep Are.na alive because it, the service itself, was part of how I understood (and still understand) myself.

One of the best things I’ve read in awhile. Loved the Kinopio shout-out too. While not software, the sites I’ve been spinning up like this, Foofaraw, the upcoming Quotidian Bagatelle, and maybe one other come from a similar place of wanting to bootstrap the things I want to see in the world.

🇺🇸 No Kings Day Pt. 2

Letters from an American

In fact, protesters turned out waving American flags and wearing frog and unicorn and banana costumes and carrying homemade signs that demanded the release of the Epstein files and defended Lady Liberty. They laughed and danced and took selfies and sang. City police departments, including those of New York City, San Diego, and Washington, D.C., said they had made no protest-related arrests.

You absolutely love to see it.

📺 Watching Apple TV in Apple TV on the Apple TV

Birchtree

In the 6 years we’ve been making these TV+-on-TV-on-TV jokes, I haven’t seen any evidence that this has caused any actual pain for users. Maybe it’s out there and I’m just blind to it, but I just haven’t seen it myself.

100% — I tried to say something similar on Mastodon when this news broke and everyone was making unfunny jokes about it, but Matt says it much better than me. It just doesn’t matter.

🆕 Jimmy Fallon wants to turn Wordle into a TV show

The Verge

Honestly… this is probably going to work extremely well. Just like the article mentions, Lingo is an obvious comp for how this can work, but I also think something like Chain Reaction could provide some inspiration for keeping it engaging and entertaining.

🦾 Intro to Issue 58: Cyberpunk

Eye to the Telescope

Cyberpunk demands that we find the human in the face of oppression. It is a glimpse into the future we can experience inside the present. It is what happens when a world loses touch with its own humanity and asks us how we will survive in the margins.

Friend of Foofaraw, Casey Aimer (of Radon Journal), guest edited the latest issue of Eye to the Telescope, full of wonderful sci-fi poems. Highly recommend you go check it out.
