✖︎Jeez… this is such a bad look for Chicago. Shameful and disgraceful. Reminds me of when Toronto cheered Durant’s injury, but worse.

✖︎Not sure spending 6+ hours a day with a headset on is a great idea, but ~the future~, I guess. I know there are different learning types, but I think the relationships, both with classmates and teachers, are a big part of education.

✖︎Been considering doing a weekly digest newsletter of all the TIV links… it’d require a paid account on Buttondown (to use the RSS integration), but it’d unlock some other stuff I’ve been thinking of too…

✖︎Whelp, there it is… feel bad for all my Seattle friends who get to watch their team fall back to mediocrity…

✖︎This is a great little tracker of Substack’s recent issues from @jeffperry. I had a similar idea, but this is way better than anything I would’ve come up with.

✖︎Somewhat related to the news talk on micro.blog, I started thinking about how I could build a little app similar to The Economist Espresso or FT Edit. The idea being, every evening, there’d be five links posted to keep you updated. This is a quick prototype with yay.boo.

✖︎Based on the inclusion of “fast-food” I’m assuming they are including Taco Bell and Chipotle, which shouldn’t really count, but I can’t imagine ever not having good tacos in my life.

✖︎While I don’t care for crypto or web3, this is still pretty significant news. I’m just hoping Betterment doesn’t put my money in any of these ETFs.

✖︎I don’t follow college football closely so this doesn’t mean much, but I didn’t see this coming at all. The program he built there is truly a remarkable feat.

✖︎If Liverpool are able to stay on top of the table without Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, and Tsimikas (i.e. 3/4 of their starting defense and the first defender off the bench) it’ll be a miracle (not to mention other injuries and players away on international play right now).

✖︎Maybe, just maybe, these are actually the folks who want to control/silence people. Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit editions are way more revealing than this calendar too.

✖︎Trying my hardest to link to all the real important news this year.
9 January 2024
✖︎For my news junkies out there, is there a publication you feel is on the level of The Economist, but covers breaking news? The Guardian, NYT, and FT seem to be the best, but I’m hoping to find something else…

✖︎This is super cool… Biggest problem with this is I’d wager there’s a group of his supporters (a rather large one at that) who are not only jazzed when they hear this, but would encourage it.

✖︎As cool as the device designed by Teenage Engineering is, this feels more like marketing for an AI-assisted RPA play.

✖︎Very cool website/map of different pockets of the internet.
8 January 2024
✖︎Doesn’t actually mean anything, but such a weird move considering… looks around at everything. The whole “I’m going to be a dictator” thing doesn’t help either.

✖︎My newsletter is back…

✖︎Luckily (?) for me, I’m already an incredibly slow reader. But because of that I don’t reread books. Ever. Now I’m considering trying to work something like Cat’s Cradle in every year though.

✖︎When there’s too much for us to imagine actually completing, we short-circuit our executive functioning mechanisms, resulting in a feeling of anxious unease.
As much as I don’t enjoy my job, my time is pretty much mine do with as I please, but when the rain comes it pours and I’ve definitely experienced that anxious unease.

✖︎Very cool digital art exhibit dedicated to the Brazilian striker, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, aka the real Ronaldo. Watching Ronaldo and Brazil, (where my dad was born) in the 2002 World Cup is what got me into soccer in the first place.

✖︎Also, the very beginning of the constitution: “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility” is the antithesis of the last president. I don’t think anyone would use the word tranquil to describe him or the four years under him. Okay, political rant over…
