I’ve been thinking a lot about Jojo Rabbit recently, for a variety of reasons, as well as Sam Rockwell’s character. It’s stuck with me more than I expected. Surprisingly, a lot of movies from last year have stuck with me, the only exception being Knives Out, which I originally had as my number two movie of the year. Looking back, Parasite, Jojo, Booksmart, Marriage Story, and Us have all stuck with me much more than Knives Out. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised given the pulpy Clue-ness of it, and don’t get me wrong, it’s a delightful film, but it doesn’t have those sharp teeth that dig into you and stay around for awhile, holding on.
