Logan’ Director James Mangold Warns Against Extreme Fan Backlash

At the point when work writing & directing big franchises has become the emotionally loaded equivalent of writing a new chapter of The Bible (w/ the probable danger of being stoned & called a blasphemer), then a lot of bolder minds r gonna leave these films 2 hacks & corp boards. — Mangold (@mang0ld) July 5, 2018

Hoai-Tran Bui at /Film captures a few additional tweets from Mangold through this link but I point this out because I think it’s extremely important.

At a time when everything has to be a big blockbuster it’s more important to allow real creatives some freedom to actually create without getting attacked for every decision they make, whether in a giant blockbuster like Star Wars or on a smaller scale like Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Getting people like Rian Johnson and Taika Waititi to helm these giant franchises is a blessing. The less freedom these people have the more bland the movies will end up.
