Wasn’t actually planning on blogging through this game as I expected they’d get killed. Then plan was a movie night. But after finishing The Game I turned this game on to see the Bulls winning. And then they grew the lead even more behind Jabari Parker to close the first quarter. The Bulls will still most likely lose, but it should be entertaining.
Q1
Bulls 40-27 Bucks
- 21:12 - RoLo just gave up his body to keep Giannis from getting to the hole on a fast break. Plays like that are why I love the way he plays.
- 21:18 - Bulls are still doing way too much one-on-one offensively with LaVine and Parker. Fortunately, they are looking to get to the basket. When others get the ball, they’ve done a good job at driving and kicking to find the best opportunity to score.
- 21:25 - Milwaukee is not the team to play small against given their length. But the Bulls have Arci, Blakeney, LaVine, Hutchison, and Carter Jr. on the floor right now. Three guards, two are undersized (in Arci and Blakeney), two don’t play defense (in LaVine and Blakeney). Then you’re adding the two rookies, who play defense, but have a lot to learn still.
- 21:31 - Holiday is 6/6 from three right now for the Bulls. Unreal.
HALFTIME
Bulls 63-45 Bucks
- 22:01 - Jabari seems to only be able to score down low if he puts on a spin move first.
- 22:03 - Milwaukee turnovers were the reason the Bulls were able to take a big lead in the first half. Chicago turnovers are the reason the Bucks have cut that lead down to two here in the third quarter.
- 22:10 - Bulls actually had a good defensive set, forcing Milwaukee into a bad shot at the end of the shot clock. But they couldn’t finish the possession, and ended up letting Giannis have the tip dunk on the follow-up, giving the Bucks the lead.
- 22:11 - The Bulls literally just let Middleton walk down from one end to the other for an uncontested dunk… Things are falling apart quickly now for the Bulls.
- 22:16 - Much needed drive and bucket from LaVine to stop the bleeding. Bulls down 9 now.
- 22:19 - Giannis and Connaughton just tag-teamed Hutchison at the basket. It looked like they wanted to take his head off.
- 22:19 - Bledso hitting the deep three for the buzzer beater is not helping things right now.
Q3
Bulls 80-91 Bucks
- 22:25 - When Giannis hits threes, you know it’s a bad night. It essentially means game over the Bulls. If he’s able to do so consistently, then it’s game over for not only the Bulls, but the entire Eastern conference.
- 22:33 - Nice to see some light playmaking from Jabari. Little drive to the lane and kick out to Blakeney to knock down the three. Just sorry to see it followed up by poor defense.
- 22:35 - Bulls have been running a lot of their offense through RoLo down low. If they are going to go through the big, I’d like to see Wendell Carter get the same opportunity.
- 22:46 - Bulls down 20 with three minutes left. End of the bench guys are in. That’ll just about do it for me tonight. Until tomorrow for the Watford v Liverpool game (If I can get it. With all the games at 9:00, the only game it looks like I get will be West Ham v Manchester City. I’ll still try to watch it though.) Edit: read the date wrong, no Liverpool game this weekend…
