“Donald Trump should not accept Canada as the 51st state; it should obviously be a territory,” says one Trump administration official, who notes that making Canada a state would likely add “so many liberal voters” that it would risk tipping the Electoral College in the Democratic Party’s direction.

The whole situation is a moronic clown show. This quote does a good job at showing how short-sighted Trump is—or how brazen he is to not worry about a next election. While the piece does touch on Ukraine, I’m surprised they didn’t go deeper into Trump’s admiration for Putin and the obvious comparison of Russia invading Ukraine.
