đź’˝ 2024: Most Anticipated Albums

24 January 2024 list music albums

Typical disclaimer that most anticipated is a bit of a crapshoot because we have no idea what’s actually coming in the back half of the year.

If you missed it, I published my 2023: đź’˝ Top Ten Albums list yesterday.

Honorable Mentions

in no order, limited to five

TANGK by IDLES, Loss of Life by MGMT, Live from Malibu by Yussef Dayes, The Great Bailout by Moor Mother, Star Line Gallery by Chance the Rapper

Top Ten

also on Album Whale

10. TBA by Thundercat

I also had a new album from Thundercat on my 2023 list, which never came… hopefully it comes this year… I feel more confident that it actually will this year…

TBA

9. What Now by Brittany Howard

The Alabama Shakes singer sets out for her second solo album. I love her bluesy, southern rock style combined with her soulful voice. I’m excited to see what she chooses to tackle on this record.

9 February

8. TBA by Billie Eilish

Happier Than Ever didn’t really do it for me, but I’m super intrigued to see where her sound goes with her third record.

TBA

7. TBA by Vampire Weekend

One of only a few bands who I’ve actually liked every release from and the last one, without Rostam, was surprisingly great.

TBA

6. Little Rope by Sleater-Kinney

I mean, they have Gerri from Succession in their music video… And it’s already out now! It didn’t quite deliver on my anticipation, but I already had this list put together.

19 January

5. I Got Heaven by Mannequin Pussy

Now we are talking and getting into the alternative punk music I live for.

1 March

4. A LA SALA by Khruangbin

Their first album since 2020’s Mordechai. Khruangbin have a great laidback psychedelic sound, so it’ll be exciting to see what they’ve come up with since Mordechai and their work with Leon Bridges.

5 April

3. Wall of Eyes by The Smile

I’m not going to lie, I don’t know how I actually feel about The Smile, but for some reason I’m still excited for their second release.

23 January

2. World Wide Whack by Tierra Whack

Whack World was/is one of my favorite rap projects ever. 15 minutes of hilarious, delirious, and absolutely killer raps. This will be Tierra Whack’s first full length LP.

15 March

1. Tigers Blood by Waxahatchee

Every Waxahatchee release is a banger and the first single from this one makes me think only the best is in store for us.

22 March
