Half-baked NBA challenge idea: only in the last two minutes of a game is the clock stopped and handled as it currently is. At any other time, an assistant tells someone at the table what they are challenging (mid-game) and the call is reviewed and decided at the video review center in NY. If the challenge is on a scoring play and won, the points are awarded to the team at the end of the quarter (not sure how to handle this in the fourth quarter), if it is not a scoring play, but the challenge is won, one point is awarded to the team. If the challenge is lost, the challenging team loses a timeout. If they are out of timeouts, a point is awarded to the opposing team. I would start with two challenges per team per game. One to be used during the last two minutes, one for the rest of the game.
