Ben Pearson:

Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) is set to direct Ferrell in The Prince of Fashion for Amazon Studios, a drama based on a magazine article from award-winning writer Michael Chabon about the time he took his 13-year-old son to Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, and “and all I got was a profound understanding of who he is, what he wants to do with his life, and how it feels to watch a grown man stride down a runway wearing shaggy yellow Muppet pants.”

This is a confluence of three things, which sound very different, but of which I think could actually go very well together.

I don’t know much about Van Sant, but both Milk and Good Will Hunting are competently made movies, and they capture heart.

Will Ferrell doesn’t do serious stuff very often but I think this is the type of role he can use some of that humour while showing heart.

Lastly, there’s Michael Chabon. I haven’t actually read any of his novels, but I did read a piece about him in The New Yorker as well as the article in question. You get humour, good prose, and lastly, if you haven’t caught on yet, a lot of heart.
