Even though this is still far away, it has me extremely excited. This seems to be coming full circle from statements that Tom Hardy had previously made and this is possibly the best news to come from a DC owned property (by way of Vertigo Comics).
Back when Tom Hardy originally dropped out of Suicide Squad he said that there was another comic property from DC that he was hoping to get off the ground. This is obviously that project.
It contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean’s Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, technicolor Pulp Fiction. It’s a psychological fuckfest, it’s absolutely awesome. It’s as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it’s not that out there [as in a futuristic cyberpunk world]. It’s something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be fucking awesome.
Whether or not Tom Hardy stars in it isn’t as big a deal to me as getting the right director will be. Chad Stahelski and David Leitch would be a great pick, in my opinion. Their film John Wick was extremely stylish, and I think that style could translate really well to the grittiness that is 100 Bullets. The worst parts in John Wick felt like they came more from some bad dialog in the script. So as long as their is a decent script on the table, these two gentlemen could do wonders with the 100 Bullets story. Now we just need to work on getting my favorite comic ever, Transmetropolitan into a television series and everything will be right in the world.
