No-Brainer PoTW: Wytches #4

8 February 2015

I couldn’t help but pick another Scott Snyder written book. This time it’s Wytches #4 from Image Comics. Scott Snyder is one of those writers who has been blessed with amazing artists for as long as I can remember, maybe even since he started writing comics. Wytches is the second book where Snyder has been able to work with Jock, the first being Detctive Comics before the New 52 was introduced.

To top things off for Wytches, Jock has Matt Hollingsworth coloring the book. Hollingsworth is doing so much more than coloring though and overall, it gives this book it’s unique and horrifying style, as well as it’s one-of-a-kind look.

This book, similar to last weeks Batman, comes down to the characters trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Where Batman gave you a unexpected reveal at the end, Wytches does as well, in a slightly different manner that had me flipping back through the pages to see if I missed something and then rereading the last panel to make sure I read it right.

Wytches has consistently been a good comic month in and month out but I think it is really starting to hit it’s stride story-wise. I’m dying to read the next issue as we get to spend more time with these charcters and the world building that is going on throughout.
