I Hate Fairyland #1

14 October 2015

Just do yourself a favor and pick this up. You may know some of Skottie Young’s work from his Marvel: Wizard of Oz stuff, or Rocket Raccoon or just his baby Marvel covers that seem to have taken over the world.

But now, we finally have the long awaited, debut issue of I Hate Fairyland written and drawn by Skottie himself, colored by Jean-Francois Beauliue and lettered by Nate Piekos.

Whether you read comics or not you should really familiarize yourself with Image Comics because the creator-owned books they have been publishing the last six or so years have been top-notch (I may come back to this topic soon).

I Hate Fairyland continues the running legacy of Image Comics and is a showcase of Skottie Young’s talent as both an artist and writer. It’s a comic that plays on all of the typical tropes you are used to seeing in fairy tales from Alice in Wonderland to The Wizard of Oz but is gruesome, violent, and fun in all the right ways.
