Mark Ronson has built up quite a bit of buzz for his upcoming album Uptown Special with the lead single featuring Bruno Mars Uptown Funk.
Ronson may not be a household name simply because of the fact he usually works behind the scenes. If you have heard of Ronson it is probably from his work with Amy Whinehouse, more specifically Rehab. However, his previous three albums are some of my favorites.
He did a TED Talk earlier this year discussing the use of samples in hip hop and rap music. You can really tell he is passionate about music and it’s evolution. He tells the audience sampling is not about being lazy and unoriginal but wanting to insert youself into the narrative of the music you love.
