4 December 2014

It has recently been announced that AMC has officially ordered a pilot for The television adaptation of Preacher. For those unfamiliar with Preacher, it is a comic series written by Garth Ennis, with art by Steve Dillon. It is an excellent series that ran for 75 issues in total from 1995 to 2000 and was published by Vertigo Comics, an imprint of DC Comics.

Last year It was announced that Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg were attached to develop the series, and then halfway through this year they began work on the pilot script. Sam Catlin, who worked on Breaking Bad will be the showrunner.

After Variety and AMC broke the news Seth Rogan sent out this tweet:

This is obviously fantastic news. Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg are, indeed, strange choices to get this is off the ground, but they have professed their love for the series many times and Garth Ennis has only positive things to say about their commitment to Preacher. Seth Rogan has stated he will not be co-starring in the series so all we can do now is wait for casting with the pilot set to shoot in summer 2015.
