10 January 2024 tv lists rankings
Talking about most anticipated can sometimes be a crapshoot. There will be stuff no one has really heard of come out, like last years Beef , and then there are shows like The Bear and The Last of Us which will likely have new seasons out, that I’m of course highly anticipating, but they haven’t really been announced or confirmed. With that being said, I still have a few TBD shows listed that I’m excited about and am hoping actually come out this year. Then again, I placed The Last of Us S1 on my most anticipated of 2021 or 2022 and that just came out last year… So take anything and everything here with a grain of salt… With all that being said, I still think this is a solid preview of what’s to come.
If you missed it, I published my 2023: Top Ten TV Shows list yesterday.
in no order, limited to five
Zero Day (Netflix), Daredevil: Born Again (Disney), Bad Monkey (Apple), Ripley (Netflix), Hazbin Hotel (Amazon)
in no order, limited to five
House of the Dragon S2 (HBO), Hacks S3 (HBO), The Boys S4 (Amazon), The Diplomat S2 (Netflix), Severance S2 (Apple)
It seems like Hollywood might have actually figured out the whole video game adaptation thing and this one comes from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld). It also stars Ella Burnell (Yellowjackets), Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan.
Looks like this is the end. Larry David is one of the greats and it’s going to be sad to say goodbye to Curb.
I’m not sure how I feel about Robert Downey Jr. playing multiple roles (again), but I’ve heard great things about the novel (still on my TBR list…). Add in Park Chan-wook (The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave) and it can be something special.
I’ve spoken a bit about this already in foofaraw since it comes out this Sunday, but the early buzz is good. I gave up on S2 and thought S3 was fine, but it sounds like this is a return to form to S1 quality.
I honestly don’t really know much about this one, but I get good feelings when I think about it… Looking forward to going in blind.
Colin Farrell and Amy Ryan star in this show from the writer of I Am Legend about a PI in Hollywood. Yeah, count me in.
This one was on my most anticipated list for 2023 so it once again finds itself on my list since it’s now officially coming out in 2024. I read the first book and honestly couldn’t imagine it being turned into a show. The trailers look great though. Now I have to go finish reading the trilogy, I guess.
Veep, but about the chaos behind franchise superhero movies? From Veep creator, Armando Iannucci, and Sam Mendes? Easy money.
If we can just get single season mini-series’ starring Kate Winslet every year the world would probably be a better place. I don’t know much about it other than that, but do you really need to know anything else to be excited? By the time this comes out it’ll have been three years since Mare of Easttown, and that’s just way too long.
Alfonso Cuarón and Cate Blanchett. If you need more than that to sell you on a tv show, I can’t help you. But you probably need help… I so hope this actually comes out this year.
